Tuesday, October 18, 2016

National Farmers Union Leader, solidarity activist, feminist, community builder, educator, Cooper Institute founding member. Viva Marie!

At this crossroads of her life where she is no longer physically present in our lives we pause to give thanks for Marie's spirit of indomitable optimism and relentless courage that she shared to graciously with us at Cooper Institute and so many others.

A tribute to Marie

A good life, lived exceptionally. Marie's passionate commitment to making the world around her a better place was a resounding success!

There are so many words to describe her and none of them alone will do her Justice and all of them together express only a tiny fraction of the woman she is, the mentor she is, the activist she is, the farmer she is and the wife/mother/grandmother/friend that she is.

At this crossroads of her life where she is no longer physically present in our lives we pause to give thanks for her spirit of indomitable optimism and relentless courage that she shared to graciously with us at Cooper Institute and so many others. To JP and Danny, Darlene, Cathy, Ike, Kim and Clair. And all the family -thank-you.

In Latin America there is a tradition that when we gather we remember those who have blazed a path for the rest of us by saying their name and responding 'Presente!

Marie Hendricken! Presente!
