Cinema Politica Charlottetown
Along with the Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter and CUPE PEI, Cooper Institute is a founding member of Cinema Politica Charlottetown.
The Cinema Politica Charlottetown collective includes representatives of other various Island groups - This Town is Small, Citizens' Alliance of PEI, Island Peace Committee, WUSC, the PEI Abortion Rights Network - and University of Prince Edward Island faculty, staff, and students. Various other organizations have assisted us with hosting screenings, attending film events, and supporting our local chapter.
Our mandate is to select films that offer critical reflection and commentary within our community and to create opportunities for dialogue; selecting films that deepen analysis, discourse, and hopefully inform action on local concerns but also that connect our experiences here to broader global analyses. We create opportunities for people to connect with local organizations that share those concerns and are working to address change.
