Rebeca Lane, acclaimed Guatemalan hip-hop artist and poet, will be performing in Charlottetown as part of the Mestizo Soul - Identity and Rights tour. Local artist Russell Louder will be opening the show. Rebeca's music deals with her womanhood and imposed heterosexuality, as well as colonization and militarization of her native land. She has released three albums - her most recent in 2016. “Mestizo Soul" looks at identity, rights, and struggles for justice and peace.

Rebeca has toured extensively throughout Europe and the Americas during the past five years and is excited for her first Canadian tour. "I want to share the experience of Central American women," says Rebeca. This tour is an opportunity to strengthen ties of solidarity with people in Canada."

Russell Louder will be opening the show. Hailed by THUMP magazine as 'the performance artist putting Eastern Canada's electronic scene on the map,' Russell is a self-produced, self-propelled transgender musician making waves on the East Coast. In March 2017, Russell released their debut EP, Think of Light, which received praise from Silent Shout, The East and Exlaim!
